First 5 minutes with SOptim
Right after install you'll see a setup checklist on the dashboard. Here's the recommended order.
1. Run your free audit (60s)
Go to Audit in the nav. Enter your storefront URL (locked to your shop's domain — you can't audit a competitor) and click Run audit. You get a PDF report with:
- Storefront speed score (LCP / CLS / INP)
- App subscription costs surfaced from your billing history
- Bot-risk indicators based on traffic shape over the last 30 days
The audit is always free, on every plan, with no usage cap.
2. Turn on Bot Shield
Go to Bot Shield. By default Auto-Pilot mode is on — that means we score every checkout-page visitor in real time and:
- Allow verified humans (most of your traffic)
- Challenge suspicious sessions with an invisible CAPTCHA
- Block confirmed bots before they reach checkout
You can switch to Monitor only if you want to see what we'd do without actually blocking anything. Useful for the first week.
3. Set your block page (Grow+)
Go to Bot Shield → Access Control → Block page. Customize the title, message, contact email, and logo. This is what blocked visitors see. We escape all HTML and only allow https:// logo URLs.
If you're on Free, blocked visitors see the default SOptim page.
4. Configure notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications. You can:
- Enable daily/weekly digest emails (paid plans)
- Add a Slack webhook for real-time alerts on confirmed fraud orders (paid plans)
5. Bookmark these
- Custom rules — block specific countries, ASNs, or user-agent patterns
- Disputes — when chargebacks land, generate evidence in two clicks
- Network intelligence — see how your shop compares to the SOptim network
That's it. The default settings catch ~85% of fraud out of the box; tune from there.
